The Undergraduate Government of Boston College (UGBC) is a student government created to enrich the lives of students attending Boston College. Its purpose is to serve on behalf of students' interests and to help cultivate an engaged and caring student community.

UGBC Senate

The Senate acts as the legislative branch of the UGBC by working to enact legislation, conduct surveys, and address student concerns and needs on campus. The Senate structure consists of four standing committees that work toward the aforementioned goals in an effort to better the BC student experience within their respective policy areas. These committees include the Academic Affairs Committee, the Intersectionality Committee, and the Student Life Committee. Each committee is overseen by a Senate representative who serves as a committee chair. Diversity & Inclusion

The Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) shall be tasked with addressing student concerns regarding diversity and inclusion on campus.

It is the purpose of the Division to address student issues and concerns in regards to diversity and inclusion including, but not limited to, race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender expression, disability, and socioeconomic status. Through programming, policy work, and community outreach, the Division seeks to foster a Boston College community where all students feel safe, welcomed, and supported. 听

The Division consists of the AHANA+ Leadership Council (ALC), 听the Council for Students with Disabilities (CSD), the听Queer Leadership Council (QLC).听Collectively, the Division hosts campus-wide events such as AHANA+ Celebration Week, Pride Week, ALC Ball,听QLC Formal,听and ALC Showdown.

The Queer Leadership Council (QLC)

The Queer Leadership Council serves as a platform for听advocacy and community-building, ensuring LGBTQ+ student inclusion, support, and representation on campus. The team is responsible for executing signature events that celebrate听Queer Joy and uplift the Queer community, including QLC听Formal and Pride Week. In addition to event programming,听they advocate for LGBTQ+ rights through peer engagement听and meetings with administration.

The AHANA+ Leadership Council

The AHANA+ Leadership Council serves as a platform for听advocacy and community-building, ensuring AHANA+ student inclusion, support, and representation on campus. The team is responsible for executing signature events that celebrate and uplift the AHANA+ community, including ALC Ball, ALC听Showdown, and the Black History Month Speaker. In addition to event programming, they facilitate and support the AHANA+ Caucus by holding regular meetings for all culture clubs and听maintaining a comprehensive event calendar to promote听collaboration and visibility.听

The Council for Students with Disabilities

The Council for Students with Disabilities serves as a platform for advocacy and community-building, ensuring accessibility, inclusion, support, and representation for students with听disabilities on campus. The team is responsible for executingsignature events that promote awareness and engagement, including Dinner in the Dark and Disability Awareness Month programming. In addition to event programming, they work to advance accessibility through peer engagement and meetings with administration.听


Division of Student Initiatives (SI)

Student Initiatives is the Division of UGBC responsible for developing and implementing programming that addresses the needs and interests of the student body. Through innovative events, initiatives, and collaborations with campus partners, they strive to enhance student life and foster a more engaged and supportive campus community. SI focuses on expanding university-wide programming across five main areas: First Year Initiatives, Health and Wellness, Women and Gender, Civic Engagement, and Athletics.

The Environmental Sustainability Division of UGBC is听committed to advancing initiatives that promote a more听sustainable Boston College community in all aspects of campus life. Through collaboration and advocacy, they work to听implement projects that foster environmental awareness and broaden student engagement with sustainability efforts.听

Division of Communications

The Communications Division supports UGBC鈥檚 outreach and engagement efforts, as coordinators attend weekly meetings, actively participate in UGBC events, gather event photos, and work to enhance student engagement online. They assist听Divisions with marketing, social media, event coverage, and organization branding.听

Division of Finance

The Division of Finance helps Divisions maximize their听budgets for impactful programming by attending weekly听meetings, maintaining budgets, tracking expenses, and听reporting spending updates biweekly.听
